Join us at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 18, for the next meeting of Carpinteria Birdwatchers. The meeting will take place online via Zoom and in person at the Carpinteria Library, and will consist of two parts:
- Difficult IDs: A discussion with special guest Alex Castelein about how to approach identifications that are especially difficult. What motivates a birder to try to get the tricky IDs right? What are some tips to make the ID process easier?
- Flycatchers: A review of the dozen most-commonly seen flycatcher species in Santa Barbara County. Learn more about these fascinating little tyrants!
For more about our special guest Alex you can download the Winter 2023 edition of Santa Barbara Audubon’s El Tecolote newsletter (pdf), in which he was profiled.
As always, Carpinteria Birdwatchers meetings are free and open to all ages and ability levels. Hope to see you there!

Hello,
I’m trying to purchase this photo of a PSF that was taken by Steve Colwell. The BirdView app that he is associated with led me to this site. If anyone has information as to how I could contact him or otherwise purchase the photo, it would be much appreciated. The photo is
