Please note: This meeting will be online only via Zoom as I’ll be out of town. There will be no in-person meeting at the library this month.
Join us on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. for the next Carpinteria Birdwatchers meeting. This month, we’ll explore the fascinating world of the Yellow-breasted Chat, one of Santa Barbara County’s most elusive breeding birds.
Yellow-breasted Chats can be challenging to see in our area, despite their vocal and colorful nature. They breed in several locations throughout the county, but only a handful of breeding records have been documented on the south coast in the last 20 years. Currently, there’s an active pair at Lake Jocelyn and at least one singing male in the Carpinteria Salt Marsh. We’ll learn about this fun but secretive species, their habitat preferences, and the best strategies for finding them in our local area.
Hope to see you online!
