For our next Carpinteria Birdwatchers online meeting we’ll talk about big things: Big Years, Big Days, Big Sits… all the ways birders find to make birdwatching more competitive and exciting. Carpinteria Birdwatchers fully supports everyone’s right to bird as casually as they want to, and even casual birding can be super exciting. But it’s fun to see how the more-energetic crowd does things, and we’ll talk about that in our next meeting.

Update: Nicole Koeltzow, who won the 2018 ABA Big Year competition with 830 species, will be joining the meeting as our special guest. I’m looking forward to talking with Nicole about her experiences in 2018 and her thoughts about big year birding.
