Group outing on August 21: Toro Canyon Park

August 15, 2021 by John Callender

Nuttall’s Woodpecker, Toro Canyon Park, April 13, 2021 (eBird list)

Our next group outing will be at Toro Canyon Park. It’s a quiet location where we should be able to hear lots of oak woodland and chaparral birds and see how the Merlin app’s new Sound ID feature does at identifying them.

  • Location: Toro Canyon County Park, 576 Toro Canyon Park.
  • Date/time: Saturday, August 21, 2021, 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
  • Details: From Via Real, take Toro Canyon Road north for 3 miles, then turn right on Toro Canyon Park road. The park entrance is on the left about a mile along the road. We’ll do an easy stroll around the park’s parking lots and picnic areas.

As always, Carpinteria Birdwatcher outings are free and open to all ages and ability levels. Hope to see you there!
