Local Oystercatchers: Carpinteria Birdwatchers meeting for February 19, 2026

Join us on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. for the next Carpinteria Birdwatchers meeting. This month, we’ll take a closer look at oystercatchers — one of our most striking and recognizable shorebirds.

We’ll focus mainly on the Black Oystercatchers we see along our local coastline, including where to find them and what makes them interesting. We’ll also explore the broader oystercatcher picture, including American Oystercatchers, hybrids, and how birders approach the sometimes tricky question of telling them apart — with a look at a recent local sighting that generated a lot of discussion.

The meeting will take place at the Carpinteria Community Library and online via Zoom. Hope to see you there!
